Adventures in grocery shopping and trips to the vet....

I never go alone to the grocery store. Eeeek, did I just admit that? Jesse and I have always done our grocery shopping together. Even since we've been married. I have no idea why, it's just something that we always do together.

So Tuesday morning rolled around and Jesse had a CTO (Comp-Time-Off) day so he took it that day so he could help me get Bandit to the vet. Poor little man got fixed.

Bandit was NOT happy all the way to the vet. He sat backwards in the back seat and stared at the seat. I could not believe what a butt he was being! He still doesn't like riding in the car much, but he usually doesn't just stare at the seat and ignore us. I am thinking it was mostly because Moe wasn't with us, and the two of them seem to do better in the car when they are together. So we got the vet and Jesse hauled him outta the car and put his leash on him. For the record, when we walk Bandit, we never leash him. He's just really good about staying with us and we don't walk him by the road or anything. But since we were going to the vet and leaving him he needed to be leashed. He immediately starting whining when we attached the leash to his harness. Jesse walked him in the door and then there she was. Bandit's girlfriend! He ran right to her! You see, Bandit secretly loves the vet because of who is always at the vets office. There's this sweet lady there that has been seeing him since he was just a little itty bitty pup. She's always loved him and he's always loved her. Jesse signed some paperwork and I handed the leash to "girlfriend" and Bandit did not love that so much. He decided he wasn't staying even if his girlfriend was there, but she just scooped all 25lbs of him up and took him into the back. I'm glad Jesse was with me because at least I was able to not cry until I got to the parking lot! Ha! What a baby huh?

So we were off to get groceries and pick up my prenatal vitamin prescription. Here's where it gets fun! We were meandering through Kroger and there was this cute little old lady walking down the isle towards us. When our carts collided (not really, just when we got to the same place in the isle) she smiled, like all sweet little old ladies do, and said "when are you due?" Awwwwww! I told her "How sweet! You are the first person to ask me that outside of my family!" She said "Well, dear, you are obviously not fat, just pregnant!" I told her I was due in June and thank you VERY much! She asked if we knew the sex, and woohoo we had just found out the day before "A boy!" She said "Congratulations! Enjoy your new life!"

Honestly it was so sweet that someone that didn't know I was pregnant, asked when I was due! I told Jesse though "And so it begins!"

I am sure the not so nice comments will start soon. The "Oh my gosh you have to be due any day, you look like you're going to pop!" When I'm only 7 months pregnant! Or the "Are you sure you're due in June?! No way you are going to make it that far!" Yeah I'm sure those are coming! But for now I will enjoy the fact that a sweet little old lady told me that I was "obviously pregnant and not fat!"

After getting groceries we got a call from the vet saying that Bandit was awake and was ready to be picked up. I of course was getting my water bottle and getting my shoes on when Jesse said "Hurry up! We need to get Bandit!" I just laughed. I think he was a little excited to pick up "his" dog. So off we went. We got there and Bandit looked wonderful! He walked right out to us. His ears were back, but they perked up when he realized we were there. He's been healing great and he actually has been kenneled for the lat couple of days because he's been healing TOO well and running/jumping are a no-no and I do not want to deal with ripped stitches! Jesse hand fed him the first night we were home, but he's been eating and drinking like a champ since then! :)

Things have been a little hectic around here(Then again, when aren't they? This is, afterall, my crazy unpredictable life!) Jesse has been working so hard (bless his heart!) on getting paperwork pushed through that would guarantee us base housing when we get to Minot. It has been forwarded up the chain of command and we are just waiting to hear back as to whether or not the commander at Minot is going to approve it. It is on his desk as we speak. I have been praying so hard that this works out. The serious lack of housing there has stressed me to no end and I really want to know that we will have a home to bring our baby to after we leave the hospital. He also has been getting all of the regular paperwork done for our move, and hasn't had a real "day off" in a couple of weeks. I know he is looking forward to the weekend. If the paperwork goes through for housing I have paint chips in my purse for colors that we are going to paint the nursery. I am really looking forward to that! :)

Well until next time....

21 weeks!

How far along?: 21 weeks!

Total weight gain: 10lbs total according to the doctor's office today. Which makes me happy!

How big is Baby?: About 10.5 inches in length and 12.7 ounces. The baby is practicing swallowing and digesting with the amniotic fluid. Taste buds are working. I guess I better start eating healthy things so my baby doesn't come out wanting cookies and ice cream and candy! Ha!

Maternity clothes?: I am mostly in sweats at home during the day, but if we go out yea, maternity clothes for sure! Unless sweats are acceptable :)

Stretch marks?: None on the belly. A few down on my sides/hips but I don't remember if they were there before, or new! lol.

Sleep?: Yeah we're not getting along right now. Hello peeing 23094820394823 times a night again! I bought a body pillow today at Target and I'm really hoping that it helps support my knees/belly so my hips can stay straighter and my back won't hurt so much!

Best moment this week?: Finding out the gender! Today!!!!!

Movement?: Lots of it! But, I found out why I haven't been feeling really very strong movement, and that's because I have an anterior placenta!

Food cravings?: Still the milk thing. I don't mind though, I've always loved milk.

What I miss: Yeah the shaving the legs thing. I did it today but it took way too much time!

What I'm looking forward to: Shopping for gender appropriate things!

Milestone: We found out the gender today!

Okay, Okay, you're dying to know! Well, first we went into the doctor's office and of course he asked me if I had a prediction. I told him girl! Without a doubt. I have had numerous dreams that it was a girl, and that's actually how we came up with our girl name. The dream itself wasn't pleasant, but it was so vivid and real, I woke up thinking "Oh wow, do I already have a daughter?!" The doctor told me that 90% of mom's are right and that he would bet girl too if that's what I thought. So he put the wand on my belly and away we went! Baby would not cooperate. It was breach and sitting down in my pelvis and would not turn! The next thing we knew, it was stretching out, but still wouldn't turn so all we could see was a side view of everything. Finally I looked at the doctor and just laughed because at that point I knew because I could see a little something sticking straight up. Yes yes yes. He said "I'm pretty sure Mama's dream is going to be wrong, did you see that? I'm 97% sure it's a boy!" Oh wow. I was shocked. The baby finally turned, but only for a second. We didn't get a great picture of it, however, there is not a doubt in my mind now, or the doctors, or Jesse's that there is definitely a boy in there!

So onto more fun things! His name will be Jaxon (like Jackson) Garrett Last Name. Jesse and his dad's middle name is Garrett. They are Jesse Garrett and James Garrett and now we will have Jaxon Garrett. I cannot believe I am going to have a son!!!!! :)

After the ultrasound we ran over to Target and I probably spent too much money on little boy clothes and then we grabbed dinner at Old Chicago. So. Freaking. Good. Jesse had a beer, and then another, to celebrate for both of us.

Ice.... Yucko!

All last week our weatherman (who is usually a big fit liar and blows a lot of things out of proportion) was predicting a snow/ice storm to hit. They were telling people to make sure they had enough food and water in their house and to have cash on hand in case the power went out. Thursday night rolled around and it was cold! But things still looked clear! Friday morning was a different story!

I woke up around 12am-1am to pee (figures) and could not go back to sleep due to the sound of ice falling from the sky and hitting our windows. I finally crashed after about an hour. Jesse's phone rang at 5am, they were delaying report to work time until 9am so the roads could clear. Cool. We crashed again.

7am MY PHONE RINGS! I'm thinking, great, Jesse is late and not waking up because his phone is on vibrate! Nope. I answer my phone and they ask for Jesse. I sorta got attitude with the guy because I was seriously pissed that my phone was ringing. It was Jesse's supervisor sorta. He proceeded to tell Jesse "Work is off for everyone today because of the ice and the roads are so bad, but since you have weekend duty you have to come in so we can tell you what the plan is this weekend." Um excuse me? So Jesse got ready and spent a good 20 minutes scraping the two inches of accumulated ice off my windshield (my car is 4 wheel drive, he just drives a little 2 door focus that gets fabulous gas mileage!) all the while trying not to slide all over the ice! He finally called another supervisor and said that it was supposed to get worse and that our parking lot, street and side road were all ice skating rinks. He told him to sit tight because he had to call the weekend duty supervisor to see if he wanted to call the day or not (hello! IT'S NOT THE WEEKEND YET! And why the heck would he drive to work, and turn around and just drive right back after they explain what work needs to be done for the weekend? Especially if it's supposed to get worse! For the record, it did get worse!)

Around 10am he finally got ahold of the weekend duty supervisor. "Oh I didn't know you had weekend duty. I would have called you and told you. No work today, be here tomorrow at 8am, if it changes due to weather, I'll call you" Okay cool!

Weekend duty was an entire fiasco in and of itself because the flightline was covered with ice still. No work could really be done, someone ended up in the ditch on the way in, someone fell on the ice in the parking lot and hit her head. Really people? No work was done? What was the point in putting people in danger(literally!) so no work could get done?

The roads have finally cleared for the most part, now it's just parking lots and places where there was a lot of ice built up, like our back patio. Poor Bandit took a nose dive right off the back steps yesterday and once he got out onto the patio, he looked like a brand new baby deer/horse trying to learn how to walk! His legs were going everywhere! Moe girl wouldn't even go on the patio, and when I let her out front she slipped on the walk out there. :(

I took some pictures before, during and after the ice storm. Enjoy! Oh and remember, this is *ice* not snow!

Until next time....

Boy or Girl?

Tomorrow is the big day :) Go ahead and guess away! Post a comment and let us know what you think Baby bean will be!

Being totally honest here, I'm still sticking with my guess of girl :) But we all know that, that does not mean it's absolutely without a doubt a girl!

So once again, Guess away, and I'll try to let everyone know tomorrow or Tuesday whether we will have a Baby J or a Baby T :)

Until next time..

Closet monster.

I cannot believe how many clothes I took out of my closet today and put into trash bags! Oh and shoes. Don't even get me started. I have shoes that I haven't worn since high school. Like early high school. I'm talking freshman year. That was 8 years ago folks! I don't have any before pictures, but I might take a picture tomorrow and show you the beautiful after results! I took out 4 trash bags full of clothes and shoes. I am having Jesse drop them either at Airman's attic or Goodwill sometime this week. It's a long overdue thing that really needed to happen. Honestly, I am definitely not a size XXS anymore and I never want to be that small again, so please explain to me why I felt the need to keep that crap around so long? Oh because "My mom gave this to me and I LOVE it!" But all it does is sit and take up space. Ha! Oh, and the shoes. I have a shoe thing. It was awful parting with them. But I know that someone else will be able to use these things. I'd rather that someone else could actually use them than just let them sit in my closet.

I did not get rid of any of my old jeans or anything of about that same weight. Someday, I really want to make a jean quilt. I figure it's better to reuse what I already have than buy more jean fabric when that time comes. I also kept a few pairs of jeans/expensive bottoms that are only one size too small. I really want to get back into shape after the baby comes, and I don't want to have to buy all new clothes.

We are getting ready for a big ice/snow storm tonight. In Arkansas?! What?! Yes. I'm hoping that the weatherman is lying. Or that he's telling the truth and hubby will get to stay home from work tomorrow!

Until next time..

You gotta have friends.....

I'd so be lost without them. Even if we are miles apart, I am lucky to have some really great friends! I am hoping that we aren't always miles apart! I love these photos that we took while we were home in Oregon. They are so candid. Not everyone's eyes are open in every picture, people are making goofy faces, but it's just too funny. It seems like everyone's personality is coming out in these photos. Oh and a big thanks to my Mom, who probably shouldn't have been standing on the coffee table after the wine she drank (it was New Years) but did anyway, to get some really great photos for us! :)
